Co2 is a husband-and-wife duo from Muar, Johor, dedicated to promoting sustainable development in Malaysia through thought-provoking installations.
Celine Tan and Oscar Lee founded the Co2 art collective to raise awareness about the importance of reducing waste for the planet’s wellbeing. They are renowned for their colossal creations made from recycled materials.
In addition to installations, Celine and Oscar are self-taught street artists who depict untold stories and cultural narratives through their art.
Our site features a mural by CO2 located at Pasar Karat, reflecting the community's vibrant and sustainable spirit.
The concept of “Karung Guni” —our local approach to sustainable living—serves as the inspiration for this work. Karung Guni comes from the Malay phrase for "gunny sack." The recycled materials in the gunny sacks are represented as piggy banks, highlighting the practice of Karung Guni turned the unwanted items into treasures.
Our AR experience playfully brings the market and mural to life, celebrating upcycling, reuse, and commitment to sustainability.

Hi there! We are an artist duo based in Malaysia, specialising in multi-sensory experiences using Augmented Reality (AR) for placemaking. Our projects include the Funan AR Activation during Singapore Art Week 2024, Art Jog 2024, Batu Pahat Art Street, and installations at UNESCO sites and Biospheres in Penang.
